Orchestras Live — Arts Council England NPO

Overview

An away day for a national arts organisation whose remote team, spread across the UK, needed more than a standard team-building day.

The Challenge

Following a period of significant change, the team needed dedicated time to reconnect, have honest conversations and work out how they wanted to operate together going forward. The focus was around communication, wellbeing, inclusion and mutual support. Surface-level team building wasn't going to cut it.

What I brought

I began with an insight-gathering and design process to understand the team before anyone arrived in the room. The session was held at Quakers Friends House in central London which was chosen deliberately for its calm, reflective atmosphere.

The day was intentionally screen-free, combining creative facilitation, reflective practice and collaborative decision-making designed to draw out different personalities and communication styles and make space for people who don't always get heard.

What changed

  • A team, spread across the UK, reconnected with joy

  • Shared challenges named openly

  • The team left with practical commitments, not just good intentions

  • A screen-free reset that went well beyond surface-level team building

"Supportive, friendly and fun, whilst keeping a serious intent."
